About recycling …

Recycling is the collection and re-processing of materials that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and converting them into new products.

Recycling benefits our community and the environment in the following ways:

  • It reduces the amount of waste that we send to landfills
  • Recycling keeps our community clean – instead of littering, we are caring for our environment which is kept clean and beautiful
  • Conserves energy and natural resources such as timber, water, and minerals
  • Prevents pollution by reducing the need to collect new raw materials
  • Helps sustain the environment for future generations
  • Helps create new jobs in the recycling and manufacturing industries

Honouring Mandela Day 2016

Mandela Day is about changing the world for the better.

2016-07-19 13.18.10

TableView Lions Club and Sun 1 Hotels shared Mandela Day with the staff and children at a Peace Home.

The home is a haven for abused children. We donated food and a First Aid kit and provided a party and treat bags for the children. The children were delighted with the treats and had a wonderful party while also displaying their acrobatic and modelling talents. These children are cared for in a safe and loving environment and the home certainly lives up to its name…Peace Home.

Lion Gisela Weitz honoured this plight with the underprivileged children of Masikhululeke Educare Centre.

The children ‘baked’ racing cars and aeroplanes, enthusiastically driving and flying their creations – and eventually devouring them of course. Everyone played games, danced and sang and prayed in honour of Madiba on this memorable, beautiful sun filled day.

In a joint venture with Table View Shopping Centre, Table View Lions Club will be collecting good quality toys and stationery to distribute to needy organisations to give some cheer at Christmas.

Summer Fashion Show – Thank you!

The Table View Lions and Woolworths Bayside partnership project: a fashion show in aid of a school bus for the West Riding Primary School.

We would like to thank the community for their support.

SUMMER FASHION SHOW – Lions and Woolworth’s team up for West Riding Primary School

The Table View Lions and Woolworths Bayside have partnered in an exciting project: a fashion show in aid of a school bus for the West Riding Primary School.

The Lions and Woolworths cordially invite the community to a fashion show at the West Riding Primary School during which Woolworths will be showcasing their latest, striking range of summer fashion for all ages, from toddlers through to ladies and gentlemen. The models showing off this fabulous collection will be our very own Table View residents, and the pupils, teachers and parents of the school.

Members of the audience will enjoy a full programme and will also have a chance to win one of the many marvellous raffle prizes. In addition a new product range, which to date is still a surprise, will be displayed by Woolworths.

The West Riding School has 730 learners from multi-cultural backgrounds, many from single-parent homes arrive on empty tummies. The teachers themselves have therefore started an initiative to provide breakfasts and lunches, and even food parcels for some learners to take home. As the payment of school fees is, at best, irregular, income is insufficient and fundraising, such as this fashion show attempt, is the only way forward to obtain extra resources.
